The risk of suicidal thoughts is much greater for individuals dealing with major depression. If you deal with thoughts of hurting yourself or committing suicide, it’s nothing to take lightly.

Even when you think you have those thoughts under control, a depressive episode can bring them to the forefront. That may cause you to inflict harm on yourself.
